About this Blog

This Blog is a collection of excerpts from talks given by Sri Swami Vishwananda. Please note that this Blog does not focus on dates, background and the exact original way of how Swamiji delivered the speech. We edit the talks slightly, presenting them in a kind of “poetic” format. This means we choose certain paragraphs from a talk which reflect a particular theme.
Read them as pieces of Divine Wisdom, meditate upon the words and just feel how Swamiji is addressing you with His words.

Looking for the Diamond

Once there was a wood cutter. He was a very hard working man. One day as he was cutting wood in the forest, a saint was passing by. As he saw the saint, he bowed down to the saint and the saint said “My dear man, I see that you are very hard working. You are cutting this wood and you go to the market and sell it. I am very proud of you, know one thing: just go deeper into the wood. So, he listened to the saint. The next day he went deeper into the forest and as he went deeper into the forest, he discovered a forest of sandalwood. Very happily he cut some sandalwood, took it to the market and got more money for that. After some time he didn’t stop. He said to himself “The saint told me to go deeper into the forest, but he didn’t tell me how deep should I go." So he started again. He went deeper inside the sandalwood forest and as he went deeper into the forest he discovered a silver mine. Very happily he took as much as possible. He went to the market, sold it and became very rich. Again he said "The saint told me to go deeper. I don't need to stop". So as he went deeper, leaving the silver mine behind, he discovered a gold mine. Again he took the gold and sold it. He became extremely rich, but yet he didn’t stop. He said the saint told me to go deeper. He went deeper and deeper into the forest, till in the end he found a diamond mine. Then as he found the diamond mine, he said “Look the saint told me to go deeper. I have found all this- The sandalwood forest, a silver mine, a gold mine. And now I am even finding a diamond mine. Then he realised that the saint had guided him to the diamond mine. The diamond is what the saint will guide you to, but if you see the sandalwood forest and stop, what will happen? You will not advance. If you see the silver mine and stop, you will not advance. If you see the gold mine and stop, you will not advance. But when you reach the diamond then you can stop. Then you are rich enough. On the spiritual path you will experience many experiences, but don’t stop, don’t let these experiences stop you. Look always forward. There are much more greater things awaiting you. I have seen now through the travelling many spiritual people. Many spiritual people just stop by getting the silver mine or the gold mine. But if you want to realise the Ultimate, cross over everything, you will realise unconditional love. Then you will be your true self. You will attain Narayana, you will attain God’s love.
Don’t let anything stop you on your spiritual progress. If you take a path, go deeper into it and don’t loose time. Because the more time you loose, the more difficult it becomes. But more early you enter into the deep forest, quicker you shall realise yourself
