Here another excerpt from Christmas time, which might be interesting especially now for the time after Christmas, which is also a time of change, as we try to be better in all ways. Like for example being more loving, compassionate, friendly, having a healthy life-style and so on.
Sri Swami Vishwananda:
What have you changed? Every year at this time, everybody tries to do good, no?
When Christmas is approaching, everybody wants to be good, preparing for the
birth of Christ. But Christ is born every day in the heart of men. We have to see that.
And we have to change ourselves. We should not expect others to change us, but
we have to change ourselves. That’s what I always say: Self-discipline.
So let’s ask ourselves, your own Self this question: “What has changed in you?”
Has something changed inside of you? Or are you still the same person? You will
see that a lot has changed, even if you have not noticed it. You have advanced,
you have grown up, your heart has opened up a little bit more and more. So, there
is hope. (laughter) And that what Christ brought to the world: Hope.
Like it is said: If hope is gone from somebody the person lost everything. You can loose everything, but the moment you loose hope, life becomes in vain.
So, through centuries this world has been going on through hope. So if you have
not succeeded in something this year, which is just finished, well not yet, there is a
hope that you will succeed next year. And you have to believe in that. Faith has to
be there. Without faith, it’s difficult to be very hoping. But faith in what? Faith in
God who is inside of you, faith in this cosmic energy, which is present inside of you.
So, try to build up this and try to make this faith inside of you stronger. The more this
faith is strong, the more you will see that you will become strong. The less the faith is
strong inside of you, the weaker you will be.
