About this Blog

This Blog is a collection of excerpts from talks given by Sri Swami Vishwananda. Please note that this Blog does not focus on dates, background and the exact original way of how Swamiji delivered the speech. We edit the talks slightly, presenting them in a kind of “poetic” format. This means we choose certain paragraphs from a talk which reflect a particular theme.
Read them as pieces of Divine Wisdom, meditate upon the words and just feel how Swamiji is addressing you with His words.

How to calm the mind?

Sri Swami Vishwananda: You see, when we say, “Let’s sit and meditate,” what happens? The mind is very busy; we just have to learn to calm the mind.
And how do you calm the mind?
First, to calm the mind, chant the Divine Names.
It’s like giving the mind a toy to play with.
When a baby is very nervous and screaming always, what do the parents do?
They just give the child a game.
The moment the child gets the game the child will start playing and remain quiet.
The same is with the mind.

This is only an excerpt, more can be found in Sri Swami Vishwananda's book Just Love

Here is some nice Buddhist Meditation Music, which can support you in calming your mind: Click here
