Swami Vishwananda says: "And, if you want peace of mind, let it run behind the name of God. You see, the name of God is a mystery; even to great saints the name of God is a mystery. Like it is said in the Gita: “Not even the greatest of saints can understand my name” so imagine the power that the name has. Why do we see saints emphasise meditating? What does one see in meditation? In meditation, when the mind is calm, you have a contact, personal contact with the Divine, not outside, but within you. And this inner contact is the most wonderful and the most powerful contact that you can ever have. Through many generations in life men have been searching, but yet, being born as humans, we are bound by rnanubandhana which is, in short, karma. We are bound by certain things that we have done, deeds that we have done in previous life that don´t let us be free. Of course, you can run many places, but if you don´t take the time to run within yourself, all the places that you run outside, they will be of no use. It is said, “If you take a bath in the Ganges, or other holy rivers, you get purified of one birth”. But, when you are bathed in the divine name, whatever name, whatever deity you feel close with – the name of Jesus, Muhammad, Rama, Krishna, Devi -, if you get bathed in that divine name, you are released from many births. Misery is removed just by chanting the divine name. Liberation is granted just by realising the connection that you have with the Divine within you. This is where Kriya comes from. "
