God is waiting for you

Sri Swami Vishwananda: On your spiritual way there are lots of things that you have to get rid of before achieving complete oneness with the Divine.
That doesn’t mean that God is far away from you.
He is here all the time, and He is waiting, telling you, “wake up and make yourself realised”, because you were born with this realisation!
It’s just that all this dirt from the mind is limiting the Self.
Cross over this, chant the name of God and be in love with God, because He is the only one that can really love you unconditionally, He is the only one who really gives to you without expecting something in return.

The treasure of God's name

Sri Swami Vishwananda: The name of God is very important, and it’s very easy and very simple.
Why complicate it? Why try to complicate things when God has given us the easiest thing?
By chanting His name, you feel so close to Him.
But this is not the end. It’s like when you know there is a treasure somewhere.
You know the place, but will the treasure come out if you just call, “Oh my treasure, come out, come out, come out!”?
The treasure will not come to you, but you will have to dig down.
There are lots of stones and a lot of earth that you will have to get rid of before you will get this treasure.

Keep your mind fixed on God

Sri Swami Vishwananda: Wherever you are, whatever you are doing, keep your mind fixed on God and chant the Divine names.
This will help you to open up your heart.
Chanting the Divine name is the most efficient way of controlling the mind. Look at any religion: Christianity has the rosary or komboskini, Hinduism has the japa mala, and Muslims have the tasbih.

Overcoming the mind

Sri Swami Vishwananda: There is one major factor that stops mankind from achieving that (Divine Love) :it is the mind.
But the mind can be overcome by chanting any Divine name.
You see, if you practice it regularly, it will be more simple for you to focus the mind.
When you are singing bhajans, your mind is not troubling you because when you chant, your mind is busy and it becomes hard for the negativity to take over.

We are not apart from God

Sri Swami Vishwananda: Whenever we pray, we pray towards the outside.
We say that God is there and we are apart from Him.
We should really stop separating the Divine from us.
It doesn’t matter in which way you are praying, but if you talk with God, you talk with your true Self inside of you, so do it from here [Swami points to his heart].

Love is the only path

Sri Swami Vishwananda: When you realise that the only path is to love and to be in love continuously, you realise how much God loves His creation.
The same way that God loves, the same way you can also love.
All other kinds of love are secondary, because mankind is here to become Love.
But to become this Love, you will first have to overcome many obstacles, because mankind thinks that Love, God, is something apart from them.

Sri Swami Vishwananda began his Darshan Speech in Cisterno, Italy on April 29th 2006 with the following words:
Sri Swami Vishwananda: It’s so lovely to have all of you here.
You are all here for one Truth and this Truth is Love: this Love which is equal to all mankind;
this Love which is present deep inside each one of your hearts and which is waiting and wanting to come out and express Itself.
But so often there is a blockage, a wall that stops you from loving unconditionally.

When you love, love one hundred percent

Sri Swami Vishwananda: Whatever you do, every action, every thought, focus your mind on doing it for God.
Love God in everybody and everything around you.
And when you love, love one hundred percent.
Try to not doubt this Love because when you doubt it, even a little bit of doubt, it stops your advancement.

You are the Spirit

Sri Swami Vishwananda: This body will go back to earth and it will go back to the same five elements it used to be.
But if this is the reality, if the body is the only reality, then what is God?
Where is the Divinity?
This great energy that makes the body work, that makes the body act, is the Spirit and it’s who you really are.
If you were the body, would you still be alive even after death?
Whereas being the Spirit, you continuously live till you become completely one with the Divine.
Work for this reality. Work and love God.

Don't focus only on the body

Sri Swami Vishwananda: You think that you are just this body and very often you focus only on the body, so what happens?
The more you focus on the body, the more you have pain and the more you are miserable, because the reality gets covered, becomes shadowed.
And when this reality gets covered, of course it brings pain.

Become one with God's name

Sri Swami Vishwananda: Try your best to feel Him [God] at all times.
The best way is to start loving, without any question, without thinking of loving, without asking, “How to love?”
Train your mind to focus on God, train your mind to focus on your Self.
Take any Divine name, take any Divine aspect and keep chanting the name until you realise that you are one with this name.
It’s not a name apart from you, but it’s the name of your own Self.

How to realise God?

Sri Swami Vishwananda: When the body, mind and soul are united together, you will experience the Divine without any limitation.
Actually, this is the main aim of man: to realise his oneness with the Divine.
When you realise it, you become Divine.
The question is, “How to do that?”
There are many ways to realise the Divinity within one’s self, like there are many rivers that flow to the same ocean.
The main thing is to find the more simple form.
The more simple it is, the more you feel free in whatever path, in whatever way you are.
That is the best way.
I can’t tell you that in this way you will realise God and in that way, you will not realise God.
God is sitting deep inside the heart of man and you just need to focus your mind on your heart.

We have to become part of God

Sri Swami Vishwananda: We all talk about God, but we don’t know God, we don’t have an image of Him.
Of course, there are different aspects of the Divinity.
But one thing that we can do is to feel God and that’s how we can know that He is with us all the time, we can feel Him continuously and enjoy Him at every moment.
We have to become part of Him.
We have to realise this unity.
Firstly, the unity starts with our mind uniting with our heart, then with our body.

God is Love

First of all Happy Valentine's Day and lots of Love to all of you!
During his visit to Bari, Italy on April 28th in the year 2006 Sri Swami Vishwananda gave Satsang and spoke about the Love of God.

Sri Swami Vishwananda: It gives me great joy to be here in Italy.
What I really want to talk about is the Love of God which is present inside you; the gift that God has given to you: this Love which is without any limit; this Love which is without any condition;
this Love which is free and without any expectations.
We are all bound by the truth that we are children of God.
In all religions, wherever you go across the Earth, whatever tradition it may be, they will all tell you that God is Love and that Love is God.

The power of Om

Sri Swami Vishwananda: By chanting Om or meditating on Om, you reap the vibration of peace, joy and happiness.
This vibration helps humans to achieve their Real Self, let´s say, to realise the pure Consciousness of God within oneself.
You can feel it, even when you say it.
When it vibrates, when you say Om, let it vibrate on the solar plexus.
All the power of creation, all the whole universe is present deep inside you.
Let it vibrate in each cell of your body.
Every time you have a little spare time, sit down and just breathe Om in and Om out.

OM Meditation by Sri Swami Vishwananda

Today Sri Swami Vishwananda shows you a special meditation technique:
Sri Swami Vishwananda: If I show you a very simple meditation that you can give to anybody, will you do it?

A guided meditation:

Try to sit straight. Your spine should be straight.
First of all, I will ask you to take a normal breath, breathe normally, a few times.
Now that you have breathed, concentrate yourself.
Focus on the third eye. Close your eyes.
Use your creative power now, because, as I said, you are a child of God. As God is the Creator, you are the creator also.
With your creative power, the power of creation that God has given to mankind, to all of you, create the Om sign, or any divine Sign, the Cross, the Crescent, any sign that you feel close with.
Create it on the third eye.
And with your hearing, with your ears, listen deeply to your breathing.
Listen to it. And breathe Om. Take your time. Do it in a relaxed way.
Breathe slowly Om in and breathe slowly Om out.
But keep your focus on your Ajna Chakra, on your third eye.

After some time you will feel that on the third eye it is a bit ticklish, like something is working.
Go deep into it. Let this vibration go down the spine from your head to the base chakra.
Let it flow.
With your breathing, breathe Om. Let it vibrate.
Let the Om sound vibrate on all parts of your body.
Now, reduce the size of the Om. Bring it back to your third eye.
Bring it to your heart.
Let it stay in your heart. Let it vibrate in your heart.
Chant with me: “Om”

God dwells inside of you.
You will realise this Love for yourself.
You will know that He is here, sitting here all the time.

The deepness of Love

Sri Swami Vishwananda: Whenever you experience the deepness of Love inside your heart; whenever you sit down for prayer, bhajan, or meditation; whenever you feel the sense that you don´t feel pain, you don´t feel happiness, you don´t feel hot, you don´t feel cold;
you only feel a joy, which you can´t even express, treasure it.
There is a word that we can put to this; ‘bliss’, but still this word is limited.
The only thing I can tell you, you can just feel it.
You can´t express it with words.
And this is what you have to be at all times.

Sri Swami Vishwananda: If you ask God, “God, make your Light shine through me”, can He refuse that?
He can´t refuse you anything.
Whenever you pray to Him, He can´t refuse you anything.
He is here to give - only you should know how to receive it.
When you receive something, very often, you keep your hands like this, open.
Very often, mankind keeps the hands like this and the Grace comes, drops through, and goes.

Satchidananda - the true Self of man

Sri Swami Vishwananda: The true Self of man is Satchidananda.
Sat: Being. Through Sat -existence - only as a mere human, without realising the Chid and Ananda, you can´t come to the point of complete realisation - only with this one aspect.
You can´t come to the point of realisation with two aspects.
Sat and Chid: Consciousness, and then this Ananda, which is Bliss.
We call that Satchidananda.
So human being is Satchidananda also.
The body, the mind and the soul, which is everlasting.

Becoming one with God

Sri Swami Vishwananda: When the prayer, when this bhajan singing makes you lose its aspect of witness to the outside, when you lose yourself and forget about everything, forget even about you being the body, you see that you have become One – with eternity, with God.
You have attained your own realisation.
This is how great saints, great prophets have taught mankind about it.
One of the most beautiful aspects of bhakti is Mirabai.
She was so much into it, she forgot about herself.

She forgot about her body, she forgot about her mind.
That state only is eternal bliss.
This is the Soul itself.

The goal of life

Sri Swami Vishwananda: The goal of life is to attain happiness, to attain eternal bliss.
And this is what mankind is here for.
The rest is just secondary.
But nowadays, people have placed God in the second, even third position, while other [worldly] expectations are shining beautifully – as number one!
Misery dresses itself so beautifully that it can make you get trapped in it.
And the moment you get trapped in it, She is happy.
