About this Blog

This Blog is a collection of excerpts from talks given by Sri Swami Vishwananda. Please note that this Blog does not focus on dates, background and the exact original way of how Swamiji delivered the speech. We edit the talks slightly, presenting them in a kind of “poetic” format. This means we choose certain paragraphs from a talk which reflect a particular theme.
Read them as pieces of Divine Wisdom, meditate upon the words and just feel how Swamiji is addressing you with His words.

Divine Instruments

God gave You an instrument, which are the hands, but He has also given other instruments, which are the ears and the tongue.

Of course the legs and the body are all instruments of the Divine, but there are certain instruments which are given to us human for a greater purpose in life.

Like our ears- imagine you can’t hear- how uncomfortable would itbe? Very, isn’t it? Very uncomfortable. Imagine you can’t talk. It is very difficult, but yet we misuse this instrument. If we go deeper into the scriptures it’s said how to use this instrument. How can we use this instrument to make a better use of it for our spiritual advancement? By reciting the name of God. Our tongue is not given to gossip. It’s not only given to discuss about other people stuff behind their back, which very often human being like very much. If you tell somebody let’s talk about somebody, everybody stands up straight. When you tell them to sing the name of God they say “Oh I feel tired”. A greater use of this instrument will bring you more closer to the Divine. As you are all well aware of our hearing: We hear things- we are happy about it. We hear things- we make ourselves sad. Our hearing makes our mood also the way we hear, but there is a greater sound that will make us ever blissful, which is present inside of us, which is present all around of us, but yet we don’t listen to this sound, because our hearing is too low. You know very well that hearing goes as sound waves and human beings can hear sound waves from 1000 to 20.000 sound cycles per second. Animals like dogs or cats can hear from 20.000 to 60.000.
Other animals like dolphins, mice, elephant can hear from 60.000 to 100.000 sound waves. Imagine how short the hearing of men is, but we can develop it. We develop it by our spiritual practice. This quality gets developed by spiritual practice.
It doesn’t matter which practice you follow, but as long as you practice it, as long as you are happy with it, as long you are sincere towards yourself and you are sincere into your practice, the Divine will come to you.
