In the life of the Kauravas, Duryodhana’s mother - his father was blind and Gandhari (his mother) chose to be blind also. She didn’t see throughout her life so when Duryodhana was going to fight the Pandavas, - he was the only one left - Gandhari said that throughout life, her eyes were closed so she accumulated all the Dristhi-Shakti, so she could transfer the Shakti she accumulated to Duryodhana; but Krishna was clever and had previously told Duryodhana not to go naked in front of his mother; and that part didn’t receive the Shakti – this shows that in quiet, energy is accumulated but if you extrovert it, it dissipates."

Swami Vishwananda & the importance of Silence
Sri Swami Vishwananda says "Whenever you are in silence you cultivate energy, and when you talk it dissipates with time. As you have cultivated it, you have to learn to keep it, by trying always to be in silence.
