Sri Swami Vishwananda tells us how the pride of the
Pandavas was crushed by Krishna:
"During the Mahabharata, there was a man who wanted to observe
the great war. He went on a hill close to the battlefield of Kurukshetra, and
from there he had a good view of all that was happening.
As he was thought to be a spy, a soldier was sent to capture him and cut
his head off. Before he died, this man prayed to Krishna "Lord Krishna, I just
wanted to see your lila, this was my only wish. That’s why I went on this hill
to watch the Mahabharata."
Krishna went there, picked up the head, blessed it and put
it on a pillar. Then he went back to the war.
When the war was finished, all the Kauravas were dead; killed by the Pandavas. They were full of pride, having been victorious in front of this
huge army and strong enemies.
Krishna brought them to the pillar where the head was
watching, still alive. Krishna asked the head:
-
You have watched the whole war.. Please tell us, what did you see?
- Lord it was a great blessing to see your lila. It was only You on both sides, and above both
armies was Your Sudarshana
chakra turning.
It is all God who makes all that happens in our
life. The Prana Shakti is the bread of life."
